The Matrix Revolutions
was not all it was said and supposed to be. The final installment in the
Matrix trilogy was a bit of a flop. It had become a guessing
game during the unfolding of the obvious plots. Indeed it had some new
surprises; there were a lot of predictable situations. Poor character
development also contributed to the lack of
interest that continued on through the movie. Why does almost everyone
in the film have poor dialogue? The only person to expect a top-notch
performance from is Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving). Since the first Matrix
was in theaters, Smith seemed to be the favorite character of most, and
best performed character.
The Matrix Reloaded was a bit in-between a flop and a masterpiece,
such as the first Matri x.
A new character named Niobe was formed in Reloaded and expanded
on in Revolutions. The Frenchman was also a new character, but
he was poorly developed because I see potential in his character, and
he could be a very interesting character. The Twins (Reloaded)
and the Train Driver (Revolutions) were also new characters that
were underrated and under developed. The one thing about Reloaded
I think that will be always remembered is the super cool fight scenes,
and the mind-blowingly awesome special effects.
The Matrix Revolutions could have been much, much more than it was.
But I guess we will never know because this is “the end”.
Many people will agree with me when I say that the ending was a bit dull.
This movie makes things even more complicated than they already were in
the first and second one, but mind you that the first Matrix
did not confuse you as much as Reloaded has. Another
problem with The Matrix Revolutions is that they answer some
questions with even more questions. Was this a good way for the directors
to upset the audience, or was it a really big philosophical meaning
that our minds are just too small to understand? Even though the fight
scenes in Reloaded and in Matrix were ten times better
than the ones in Revolutions, it is still worth seeing, and besides
it is the last time you will have to see Neo fight Smith. Trinity (Carrie-Anne
Moss) does a beautiful job of showing her loyalty and love for Neo and
how she would do anything for him. I think she should get the best supporting
actress award for all three Matrix films. Honestly, Trinity is
my second favorite character after Agent Smith, for the reasons of: her
acting skills, the character, and how she keeps you interested, while
some people are predictable in what they are going to say (…ahem,
Neo).
Out of 4 stars I give The Matrix Revolutions a 2.75. In a way
I kind of left the theater sad, a little angry and disappointed because
Revolutions could have been much, much better than it was. I
also believe that if the directors had thought a little harder they might
have pulled off a worthy ending. I recommend go see it because of course
the visual effects that are incredible as expected, and go see it because
it is the “last one”.
